Athletes On and Off the Field

Athletes are no different from you and me from the exception of them being fantastic at a sport, and all these endorsements, but other than that they're normal people like us and maybe getting a little special treatment so I guess they're not like us. Athletes expanding their fame today is a pretty common thing. Going into commercials for their endorsement deals: Tiger Woods with Nike, RGIII with Subway, or even Haloti Ngata with royal farms. These athletes are getting themselves out there. Endorsements not only help out the athletes make extra money or get stuff for free, but if a kid or anyone for that matter see their favorite athletes drinking, eating, or wearing whatever, they're going to go out and buy whatever it is they have, and makes the endorser grow bigger in size.

Crime, it happens all over the world with people and athletes, but do athletes get off easier than us "regular" people? the answer is yes. Sad but true, yes Mike Vick had that whole dog scandal but what happened? served his 3 years and bam back in the NFL. Does anyone remember the Big Ben scandal with him and a young lady supposedly raping her? Tell me does anyone remember what happened to him? I certainly do not. Just the other day Seymeon Varlomov of the Colorado Avalanche (goalie) was sent to jail for 2 days for fighting his wife, he kicked her. Nothing happened and 4 days later he was released and back to his team in no time.

Are Athletes role models? Some are. Look at the Ravens, the commercials they have helping out Baltimore City is heart warming and touchy. Athletes who commit crimes are ones not too look up to. Most athletes give back to the less fortunate which is fantastic, so yes some athletes are role models. Is the celebrity aspect interfering with their lives? Answer, I wouldn't say so. They're two different groups of people and there are more scandals with celebs not with athletes.

OOOOOOOOO Kill em'!.... No Really, You are Killing Them.

As a music lover like myself, I feel like in todays world of music there are real musicians and then you have what people who make music for all the wrong reasons, and big companies create music groups for all the wrong reasons. For the most part I feel artists are marketing themselves the best they can. Using YouTube, radio, any source of internet they can.

So lets take the time and talk about music videos.... Probably some of the most sexual, and attention grabbing yet, but its just what we the people want to see. I have not seen any music with anyone actually playing an instrument or having to do with the music at all. Its pretty disheartening if I may say. It seems as if anyone today can grab a computer, make a beat, and record there self rapping, or singing whatever they want, upload it to YouTube, and within minuets or days depending on how "good" it was, could get noticed instantly without a record label, and I put quotes around the word good because it necessarily might be horrible, but with the generation today,  they want to write about god knows what, or music that isn't relatable too people and I feel all music is the same and talk about the same thing over and over again!

For myself how I discover artist, I use YouTube. I am a true rock fan, so I use YouTube because that's how small bands make it and get noticed, but they have music videos that tie within the song and its actually them playing the song. I've watched makings of music videos and for rock videos its actually a lot of work. everyone has to be on point with the song and others I feel I just see them walking around doing whatever again not even singing.

YOUTUBE IS KILLING CD SALES! If you have noticed lately they have a mp3 download now that people can get the songs for free. Bands need Cd sales for better tours. Better tours is how you get noticed. Youtube, yes is helpful in some ways but also makes every artist look like they don't know what theyre doing, or they are just doing it for the money and not the love.

Shouting The News!

As we all know today trusting a journalist seems so far fetch. Everyone is willing to bend the truth to get people to fine the same views as theirs. I have Politics Nation with Al Sharpton and The Ed Show and I have had enough time to digest everything and write up something about how these shows are.

The ED Show and Politics Nation are so biased towards democrats its unreal. I turned on AL Sharpton for my father and the first words out of his mouth were "wow this guy is an ass. he's a jerk" I could not agree more. Sharpton's unnecessary shouting and yelling to get his point out are for one annoying and two not needed. Sharpton's demeanor is very rude and open. The issues being discussed on his show were Republicans trying to bash Obama and take down Obama care but are failing, but continue to try and bring him down. Sharpton brought out guests who were against Obama. He let them have their piece but once they were done oh AL would chew their head off. After watching I can tell Sharpton is Pro Obama and is very liberal.

The Ed show, biased towards democrats like Politics Nation. Now these two shows, may have had the same views, but the Ed Show was \ less shouting, rude like Sharpton. Same type of guests. who showed the same views as sharptons.  Ed would write them a new one. Ed also had 3 other guests that sat with him discussing Obama Care. Ed Schultz, Also brought up how a republican senator is getting ted nugent to help run his campaign. They showed a few clips of nugent and it makes him look like an ass the way he talks about Obama, but some of the things he brought up in my views were true. But after that video was shown they began to say how having nugent run your campaign will cause more than hell, but a catastrophe.

Now with 2 hours out of my life, did I learn anything today? yes, that these news reporters will do or say anything to have people believe them. That's why no one can be trusted with polotics or journalism for that matter.

Reality televsion: Real or Unreal?

Whether you admit it or not at one point we all used to watch at least one of these shows: the Hills, Jersey Shore, Real World, True Life, Made or any other reality tv show. Lets have a moment to talk about Made and True life. MTV's True Life, and Made helped others and showed us people in their everyday life. I feel these were the only two shows that are not staged for fun, ratings or anything. They taught us something. Whether its learning how people with an addiction can over come their problem or a fat nerd becoming a ladies man. MTV was there to help. Shows like Jersey Shore, Hills or Real World, these are the "money maker" shows. They get the primetime spots. Everything is filled with sex, drama, and violence and it sells. The people are loud and obnoxious. Why would we want to watch this?! Simple its very entertaining to watch. Personally I have seen people take these reality shows to a whole other level. They dress and act like them. The biggest influential show has got to be Jersey Shore. Face it, Guidos and Guidettes were supposed to be the definition of perfect; nice bodies, cook, clean, knows how to have a good time, and can pick up any guy or girl they want. As a teenager why wouldn't you want to be like them? What's the motto? GTL? The problem with this show is its all set up! I find it hard to believe that every night is like they showed.  For most of the cast after 6 seasons they have continued their role. Pauly D and Vinnie both had new reality shows even snooki and J-Wow had their own show.   Its amazing how 8 strangers can go from no bodies to top of the celebrity pole. If Martians came and watched one show I would hope they wouldn't get the wrong impression of us. we all don't act like that! Its just entertaining to watch!  who wouldn't want to watch a good fight? newspapers..... the end is near... or is it?

Out of the choices of newspapers we had I feel as if the Dundalk Eagle would have a better chance of survival then the New York Times, USA Today, Baltimore Sun, and Washington Post. Granted you would think the bigger name branded papers would survive and they might, but honestly everything you see in the paper is usually a day later rather then myself going onto the web and finding out what happens in the world rather than waiting for the paper to come out. The Eagle I think has a better chance of survival because its about local events and everyone loves reading about themselves. Makes us look like a bunch of conceded ass holes but its the truth. Biased yes but that's the society today, everyone only worries about themselves. people would rather read about local high school teams, or college teams. Its the Eagle is obviously has to be easy to read since the people of dundalk are a bunch of redneck dummies. It  The Eagle gives the community of Dundalk a sense of enlightenment about their town and I think people would care more about that other than world issues. sad but true.
Above is an image of News and World with their last issue. Internet is taking over and pretty soon all of the newspaper companies will diminish but I feel the Eagle will be the last of the 5 papers standing.

Magazines in the checkout line: Airbursh much?

There is a big diversity between men, woman, black and whites. However, I could honestly careless

about beauty, celebrity gossip, or anything that doesn't involve sports or music. That's one thing

that will grab my attention. On the other hand people see all these famous people, whether or not

they're promoting something or talking about what celebrity is cheating on, they seem to grab

people's attention. People see a gorgeous celebrity promoting something and thinking "omg I can

look like her/him?!" what people don't realize is the amount of "filtering" or what magazine

companies "take out" of that celebrity, whether it being body fat, skin color, or tattoos. The amount

of gossip versus reality is ridiculous. I mean come on people, why do you care if Justin Timberlake

got cheated on rather than us going into maybe with Syria?! Seriously!!! But hey if that's what

interest you than go for it! What will grab my attention is if I see something big and bold, that to me

to pick it up and take a look what's inside or if its music related of course I'll take a gander at it. There

is a reason why we have so many magazine companies, to fit peoples different interests. Most

headlines on a magazine are more hopeful because if something say get rid of acne in 90 days

people are going to have a sense of hope or saying something like lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks!

Above are just a few images of what magazine companies do to make the cover presentable or

make the girl look perfect.
