So lets take the time and talk about music videos.... Probably some of the most sexual, and attention grabbing yet, but its just what we the people want to see. I have not seen any music with anyone actually playing an instrument or having to do with the music at all. Its pretty disheartening if I may say. It seems as if anyone today can grab a computer, make a beat, and record there self rapping, or singing whatever they want, upload it to YouTube, and within minuets or days depending on how "good" it was, could get noticed instantly without a record label, and I put quotes around the word good because it necessarily might be horrible, but with the generation today, they want to write about god knows what, or music that isn't relatable too people and I feel all music is the same and talk about the same thing over and over again!
For myself how I discover artist, I use YouTube. I am a true rock fan, so I use YouTube because that's how small bands make it and get noticed, but they have music videos that tie within the song and its actually them playing the song. I've watched makings of music videos and for rock videos its actually a lot of work. everyone has to be on point with the song and others I feel I just see them walking around doing whatever again not even singing. YOUTUBE IS KILLING CD SALES! If you have noticed lately they have a mp3 download now that people can get the songs for free. Bands need Cd sales for better tours. Better tours is how you get noticed. Youtube, yes is helpful in some ways but also makes every artist look like they don't know what theyre doing, or they are just doing it for the money and not the love.
If I could give you a high five, I would. I cannot agree more about how music is so uniform in today's society. And they choose to mass-produce the music that sounds similar, so that there isn't any variation. It makes things extremely difficult for the actual artists that work hard towards their music careers, and get less in return.
ReplyDeleteI agree that youtube is killing sales and there mostly being killed because of the converter to mp3 which gets free music
ReplyDeleteI don't even own a iPod or MP3 player so I don't download music off of the computer. I hate the fact that we lost our music stores for people to sit on the computer and steal it. I enjoy going to concerts, I probably have been to way over 200 or more and I am not talking local bands, I am talking Ozzy, Kiss, Van Halan, Metallica and that list could go on an on. I can still recall when Kiss took their make up off and revealed themselves on MTV as well as then stating on videos they made that they would put the make up on for the fans. It was not suppose to be all about the money, but this then tore the Original members of KISS apart. Oh I miss the old days when I sat around this gigantic stereo and my dad would put on albums, it was good quality time back then.
ReplyDeleteYeah popular music in today's generation does suck. Where I work we listen to the top hits or whatever and they suck. They all sound the same, they all talk about the same things and some of them are rather vulgar. It's sad that today's generation actually likes this. You also had a good point about none of the music videos actually having people in the who play an instrument. I bet half the artists now a days can't even read music or know what cleft they play or sing in. It's all pretty sad.
